Alfalfa (Lucerne) is a legume and is a rich source of highly digestible fibre. When fed in its pure form, alfalfa will provide equivalent energy levels to that of a cool mix, yielding approx 10MJ/kg. The energy is derived from fibre and will therefore not cause the fizziness associated with grains
